I’ve seen lots of people in many different roles go about their days seeking to cast no shadow.

They don’t make connections. They don’t give generously. They don’t share their knowledge.

It perplexes me.

Why would we not pick ourselves?

Why would we spend our time not wanting to make a difference?

Why would we put our efforts into things that leave no lasting legacy?

The simple answer is fear.

When we give in to fear we close down.

We focus on playing small.

We don’t take chances to cast a shadow.

Benjamin Disraeli was once famously quoted as saying, “Life is too short to be little.”

I think the same is true about not casting your shadow.
