It’s Day 3 of ‘Ben Lee Week’ and I know this it technically isn’t a Ben Lee song (it was originally written by Modest Mouse) but I prefer this version, so here goes….

One of the key traits of any leader is the ability to float on.

On any given day there will be issues thrown our way that take us off course. The challenge is how we react to this.

Do we grumble, get angry or sulk?

Or do we deal with the issue and get back to what we had planned in the first place with dignity and maturity?

I am a big believer that we get more of what we celebrate.

If we want to ‘celebrate’ the issues, share our frustration with colleagues and allow ourselves to become truly distracted we will get more of the same in the future. What’s more by displaying this behaviour we subconsciously give others the permission to do the same.

If we want to float on, we focus on the horizon, we recognise that this was a slight course correction but that we need to keep moving forward.

We’ll all float on, ok?
