“If you run around with nine losers pretty soon you’ll be the tenth loser.”
– Les Brown
I remember a time in my teenage years when I started to hang around with a different group of ‘friends’. What I did with my time and my whole attitude changed as I started to model the behaviour of these people. It wasn’t for the better.
My parents could see what I was doing, didn’t like it and tried to reason with me. But, being a headstrong teenager, I thought I knew better.
It was only about a year later that I realised that what my parents were right and I decided to move away from these people.
Fortunately, I was able to pull myself around although I’m sure the consequences of the decisions I made during that time still haunted me years later.
We all have the ability to choose the kind of people we spend our time with. It’s one of the most important decisions we will ever make in our lives.
