Overnight success doesn’t exist.
Everything that has ever been achieved has been done through years and years of hard work and a commitment to mastery. If we want to achieve success in our chosen field, we need to apply this thinking and develop patience and persistence to overcome the obstacles that get in our way.
There will be times when success looks further away than ever.
There will be moments when we are moving out of an existing comfort zone and our confidence will flag.
There will be times when we don’t deliver the level of performance that we want.
These times are when most people stop and settle for where they are now. They stop thinking for themselves, they stop learning and they stop progressing.
This is also the time when they start believing in the overnight success story. It’s at times like this when the Lizard Brain is at its strongest. It will make us believe that success is the result of some magical force ready to select people at random and set them up for greatness.
If this is what you want to believe don’t be disappointed if it never comes true.
The alternative is to recognise that , “How soon is now?” is the wrong question to ask.
Better questions to ask are,
“Where to next?”
“What will I learn today?”
“How can I improve tomorrow?”
