Each Friday as part of this blog I share a few things that I have loved during the previous week. It might be a book, a film, a podcast or something less tangible like a behaviour or a feeling. This week’s post includes Kung Fu Panda 3, peanut butter and the benefits of rest.

Kung Fu Panda 3: Last Saturday I took my Son to see the latest instalment of Kung Fu Panda. Not exactly the most high-brow choice but great family entertainment. Jack Black’s flippant slacker character Po, who somehow has become the ‘Dragon Warrior’, provides lots of humour and is ably supported by a fantastic cast including Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan and Lucy Liu. My favourite parts of the film though were the life lessons passed out by Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman) and Master Oogway (Randall Duk Kim). In trying to provide guidance to Po, they deliver  some great thought provoking lines including, “All the answers will be found within.”, “When will you realize, the more you take the less you have?” and my personal favourite “If you only do what you can do, you will only be who you are now.”

The Benefits of Rest: I am in the latter stages of training for a marathon but after a recent 20 mile warm-up race I’ve found that my knees and calves were a little tired and sore. Against my better wishes I decided to rest for a few days. Being so close to the race I wanted to carry on with my preparations but have found that a few days off have really helped my body to recharge and I’m feeling a lot fresher because of it. A great reminder that growth comes from a balance of stress and rest.

Peanut Butter: I love peanut butter and eat it everyday. I’ve tried various brands but have to say that Whole Earth Crunchy is by far my favourite. It’s super tasty, healthy and sustainable sourced. What more could anyone want?
