“Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.” – Abraham Lincoln

Absolute power corrupts, absolutely. As we move through our career, the likelihood is that we will progress up the ladder and be in a position where we have authority over others.

At this point we have a choice.

We can use our authority to put others down and wield this power to make ourselves feel better, in the short term at least.

Or, we can use our authority to encourage others and lift them up to achieve more.

Leaders choose the latter path. They recognise that they will only achieve continued success by getting the most out of their teams.

What will you do with “the power”?
