I am prone to the occasional bout of shouting when things wrong.

I know others who will quickly turn passive aggressive when things get rough.

In these situations we all have a choice to make. The choice starts with self-awareness.

Once we have an awareness of our usual response to a situation we can decide whether that response is a positive one or not.

Rather than looking back in anger, I could take a deep breath and provide a more helpful response.

My friends could be more confrontational if the passive aggressive approach doesn’t work.

Emotional intelligence at this level is a great skill to develop but it needs effort and a desire to challenge our assumptions.

The payoff though will not only benefit you but those around you too.
