I was writing a submission for an industry award a while ago and I was really struggling for content. It seemed that I had no ideas!

Rather than giving up and turning on the TV or diving onto Twitter for some light relief I stayed with my writing and just put down in paper everything that came into my mind – good and bad.

Within a short space of time I had more content than I needed, I was having to pare back on my words and use different ways of getting my ideas onto the page.

We might not win the award but the lesson I learned is that having no ideas is just a state of mind. Like a dam we can burst through it first by thinking about quantity then striving for quality.
