For a while I have been an absolute advocate for digitally streaming music. Through my Apple Music account I can access pretty much any artist or song I want at any time. Perfect.
This was great until I watched a recent episode of the TV series ‘Billions’.
Towards the end of the show one of the characters put a vinyl record on the turntable (it was ‘The Killing Moon’ by the Echo and the Bunnymen) and I was treated to the beauty that comes from a vinyl record. Each hiss and crack gave the song depth. Each one of those imperfections created in the pressing making that song completely original.
There’s no wonder that the vinyl record market has grown year on year over the last decade. Despite being old technology it won’t “fade away”!
With digital comes convenience but we can’t ignore the beauty of originality.
